Our friends from Net-New York traveled out to the festival this year to do some interviews and film a bit of the festival. Mari White caught up with Ivan Filby to talk about the festival. Ivan is our advisor from the college and most likely the coolest boss around. He keeps the books straight, makes sure that we keep on track, and gives us plenty of advice and moral support. Check out this interview filled with a ton of AF info!

We have received many questions from all of you through e-mail, facebook, and twitter. I figured I’d answer a few questions for all of you on here.

Q: When is the next AgapeFest?

A: AgapeFest 2011 will be held on April 29th and 30th 2011

Q: Is (insert band here) coming back to AgapeFest?

A: We have not booked any of the bands yet. Every year we do our best to bring back some favorites while trying to refresh things a bit by bringing in new bands or bands that have not played in a couple years.

Q: How do you all choose who is playing at the festival?

A: There’s a large number of factors that go into these decisions. How big is the artist? Are they selling well right now? How strong of attendance do they pull at their own show? Are they popular in our demographic? Does the cost of booking them fit within our budget?

Q: How do I tell you who I want to see at AgapeFest?

A: We would love to know who you want to see at the festival! Post the list of bands you want to see on our facebook wall.

Q: How do I get my band or my friends band on the festival bill?

A: If they/ you are a large national touring act (FF5, Sanctus Real, Addison Road) please have your booking agent contact us via-email.

A: If they/you are in a regional band we will start booking these bands from October through March.

A: If they/you are a smaller local band, keep checking our facebook page! We will put information up about Battle of the Bands before the contest opens and we will start booking second stage bands around the first of the year.

Q: Will the pork kabobs be back?

A: The Romero family has been at the festival for a number of years, they will probably be back but we won’t know for sure until they apply to be a vendor.

Q: How do I join the AgapeFest team?

A: AgapeFest is ran and operated by the students of Greenville College. If you wish to join the AgapeFest team, check out http://www.greenville.edu and speak to an admission counselor about becoming a GC student. For non students, a limited number of volunteer spots may open up closer to the festival.
Q: I have a question that you did not answer here.. how do I ask?

A: Write on our facebook wall or shoot us an e-mail at info@agapefest.com

Thanks,

Chris Emanuel

Director

Today is a sad day for the festival, Dana Key of Degarmo and Key has passed. Dana made his first AgapeFest appearance at our Third Festival in 1979 and his last at our 1993 festival. Degarmo and Key were trailblazer’s for the CCM industry and helped our festival grow to what it is today. Dana will be missed greatly. He died of a ruptured blood clot Sunday night at the age of 56. Key was the pastor at TLC Community Church in Memphis, Tennessee where he grew up.

“Dana Key was an awesome guy,” DeGarmo told Christianity Today. “Extremely talented for sure, but he was much more than that. He was absolutely passionately in love with Christ, his wife Anita and their three children.”

Everyone has had great things to say about Dana Key. We all should take the time to mourn out of respect for Key. Times of loss are always hard, but we can rejoice for Dana because we know he has gone to be with his King in heaven. Our prayers are being sent out to the family and friends, please join us with your prayers.

What are you looking forward to the most for this year? I’d have to say the experiences with the people on staff and the festival-guests.
Hey guys,

Since it will be a couple of months before we start getting bands booked for our 2011 festival, we thought it would be nice to put up an AgapeFest History page. If you go to our Bands Page you will find a list of bands that have played the festival in previous years. Our list includes names that were on the old AgapeFest posters and any other archives we have in the office. Check it out, or grab your parents and have them show you who played at AgapeFest when they went. Let’s just say that things have changed just a little bit.

We would love to answer any questions you might have regarding AgapeFest. Our website has a ton of info inside of it so here are a few links for you. If you have a general question check out our General Info page or our FAQ page. Need some information on tickets? Check the Tickets page. Want to know who is playing this year? Our Bands page has all of the bands listed.

If the website doesn’t answer your question the quickest and easiest way to get a hold of us is to shoot us an e-mail at info@agapefest.com.

or

You can call AgapeFest Headquarters at (618) 664-1861 or (618) 664-1806. Since we’re all full time college students the office is only occupied a couple of hours each day. In order for us to serve all of our guests the best way possible we ask that you leave your full name, your phone number (including your area code), and a message. We have had a few calls from folks that either didn’t include a phone number or gave us a phone number without an area code so we were not able to get back with them sadly.
