We Need More Battlers

Guys, we need more bands to enter our Battle of the Bands this year. We don’t have as many entries as normal, so you’ve got a great chance (right now) of making your way to the end!

The prizes this year are amazing. Not only does the winning band/singer get the incredible thrill of playing in front of about 5000 people at AgapeFest 2009 — but the top slot winner will go on to compete in Word Record’s national talent competition in Nashville.

This could be your ticket to becoming a rock star! At the very least you can play one great rock show for your closest 5000 friends at AgapeFest 2009. Come on and get those entries in!

  1. The e-mail we recieved from bob@agapefest through Sonic Bids for the Battle of the Bands, says the competition is on April 11th, this website says April 4th. Which is the correct date?

  2. Hey your site says that you need bands for the Battle of the Bands but from what I hear you are turning people down. What gives? Has Agape lost the love?

  3. Eric,

When this article was posted on February 24th (nearly a month ago), we needed more bands to compete for the 10 spots that will compete in the first round on April 4th. Because of this article, we have received many more submissions. Because of the fact that AgapeFest is student-run, we do not have time to watch every single band play live. I hope this helps with your concern!

  4. Sonicbids is a joke, I would not enter our band through that ever. if was open entry we’d love to participate.

  5. @Frank – hey man. The reason we go through SonicBids is because they are nice enough to sponsor our event. They give you a great value because your entry fee to our Battle gets you a discounted SonicBids account that helps get your music out in the public. You don’t have to use the SonicBids account you get, but either way you would have an entry fee to the Battle. There’s been an entry fee for the past 10+ years.

So, it comes down to this. If you don’t like SonicBids, that’s fine. But it is the only way to compete in our Battle. So you gotta weigh the options. Get a chance to compete and play in front of 5000 people at the festival by “auditioning” through SonicBids, or stay home and pass up that opportunity. Plenty of great bands want to get their music out there at whatever cost, and they are the ones that will be playing at af09.

  6. Nicely said Joel!

There’s always next year! Submit early and make a good first impression, that’s my best advice to bands.
