The dorm girls (I was living at home in Greenville) could not wear jewelry, lipstick, and when engaged, they accepted a watch, not a diamond, because watches were practical! They couldn't play cards but they could quote scripture! We had to attend daily chapel, we prayed at the beginning of every class. Ping-pong was the only game in the little tiny student union which I think was an old trailer? I have fond memories of very very good people, both professors and students, but I find your new students shockingly funny and very much alive and of this world.
