BandSpeak – Matt, Wavorly
After her success tracking down David from Remedy Drive, REV got in touch with Matt Lott, bassist for the awesome, amazing (and appearing on Main Stage at af09) Wavorly and demanded a few comments. Matt, being the nice guy that he is, kindly obliged.
Take a gander for answers to those pressing questions.
What is one essential ‘must have’ on tour?
A toothbrush.
What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without showering?
Probably 3-7 days.
If your music were an ice cream flavor, which would it be?
Rocky Road
Do you enjoy festivals or spot dates more?
I personally prefer festivals because we get to see our friends in other bands, but spot dates are good too.
What advice would you give to people interested in getting into the music industry?
Sincerely seek God and pursue what He would have you do. If you feel called, go for it with all you have.
Don’t expect to put in a half-effort and get things done. Go for it with all you have.
Why do you play music?
I feel called to be doing what I’m doing, so that’s definitely why. But it’s also very, very fun and satisfying.
What’s on your iPod right now?
A lot of stuff. I just downloaded the newest Damien Rice album, which I very much enjoy. We are also currently searching for the perfect cover song, so I downloaded a bunch of classic eighties songs.
What is the most incredible thing you’ve ever seen with your own two eyes?
A certain girl I know…haha. Other than her, I’m not sure. If I ever saw a real, living Dinosaur that would definitely be it.
We once got to go really high up on a mountain one night with an astronomer friend of ours and he gave us a “star talk” and showed us various constellations. That was pretty amazing, for sure.

Seriously. Go check out Wavorly on Main Stage on Saturday.
